Pops Video

Here is a video someone took of our group during the Pops Concert. The quality is not fantastic, but it does give you an idea how we sounded that night. It also a good example of conducting Thriller for the 8th graders!

Congrats to everyone on a great performance!! Lots of hard work went into making it a night of which you should be very proud.

Remember from Mr. McDevitt's example...90% correct is not acceptable in music. It takes everyone's 100% effort and focus to to achieve success.

Well done!

- Mr. Sikorski

Looking to sign-up for music lessons??

posted Sep 9, 2015, 6:21 AM by Eric Sikorski

If you are interested in signing up for music lessons, click on the music lesson tab. All of the handouts available in school are also on the bottom of that page.

Also, check out instrument resources to see videos and learn a little bit more about each instrument. There are also YouTube videos of Mr. Sikorski teaching the first few lessons on each instrument. Check it out so you have any idea which one seems like the best fit for you!

Please feel free to call or e-mail with any questions!

Remind App - text/e-mail notifications for Select Band

posted Sep 4, 2014, 6:33 AM by Eric Sikorski   [ updated Sep 2, 2015, 9:53 AM ]

Once again, I will be using the app "Remind" as a way of being able to communicate quickly with students and parents. It uses text messaging or e-mail and does not provide any contact information (mine or yours). This means that everyone's phone number or e-mail address stays private. I will be using this to remind students (and parents) of upcoming rehearsals, events, etc. It also will allow me to provide last minute updates in the event of changes (a few of our performances are outside and subject to weather).

If you are interested in joining, please click the link below. It takes less than one minute to sign-up!

Music lesson reminders

posted Sep 27, 2012, 11:36 AM by Eric Sikorski   [ updated Jan 2, 2013, 8:48 AM ]

For ALL students taking music lessons - please remember to bring the following items to EVERY lesson.
  • Instrument (except percussionists)
    • Clarinets and saxes - always have two reeds in good condition
    • Brass instruments - valves/slides should be oiled at home
  • Band folder - with all handouts/papers/etc.
  • Music Lesson Book (if you received one)
  • Practice Assignment Log
  • PENCIL (pens are not allowed in music) - I highly recommend putting two pencils in your instrument case.
If you can't attend your lesson - be sure to call Mr. Sikorski in the beginning of the period so he can schedule a make-up lesson if possible.
- Students should be practicing at least five (5) days every week at home.
  • First year students should spend about 15 minutes practicing each day.
  • Select band students should spend about 20-25 minutes each day.

- Use your practice assignment log to make sure you are practicing the right material each week.
