Spring Concert

posted Jun 4, 2014, 6:41 AM by Eric Sikorski   [ updated Jun 4, 2014, 6:41 AM ]

Thank you for a wonderful Spring Concert!!! According to Mrs. Johnson, it was "Simply Amazing!" And I totally agree. Everyone's practice, dedication, and focus lead to some incredible performances. Each member of the band helped to contribute to what was the best concert I have heard in my 8 years at Landis. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! Thank you again for a very rewarding and satisfying evening.

Also, thank you to the parents/family/friends/teachers/etc. that came out and gave us a great audience for which to perform. It makes all the work everyone put in that much more meaningful when they see it is so warmly received by the audience. (And it doesn't hurt that they got a standing ovation as well!!)

Musically yours,
- Mr. Sikorski

Congrats on a fantastic performance at the Pops Concert!!! The band sounded amazing and got a huge response from the standing room only audience.

Here's a picture I took from behind the MASSIVE combined band - the biggest in the history of the Pops Concert!!

Music lesson reminders

posted Sep 27, 2012, 11:36 AM by Eric Sikorski   [ updated Jan 2, 2013, 8:48 AM ]

For ALL students taking music lessons - please remember to bring the following items to EVERY lesson.
  • Instrument (except percussionists)
    • Clarinets and saxes - always have two reeds in good condition
    • Brass instruments - valves/slides should be oiled at home
  • Band folder - with all handouts/papers/etc.
  • Music Lesson Book (if you received one)
  • Practice Assignment Log
  • PENCIL (pens are not allowed in music) - I highly recommend putting two pencils in your instrument case.
If you can't attend your lesson - be sure to call Mr. Sikorski in the beginning of the period so he can schedule a make-up lesson if possible.
- Students should be practicing at least five (5) days every week at home.
  • First year students should spend about 15 minutes practicing each day.
  • Select band students should spend about 20-25 minutes each day.

- Use your practice assignment log to make sure you are practicing the right material each week.
